My Yellow Update Icon will not go away!

My yellow icon for updates is always on! I update and install however it
always keeps returning and telling me there are updates! I have gone to
Programs/Windows Update and it continually shows an update from Defender
which I have already downloaded.....
It says Install Update: download size 0
Estimated time 0
Microsoft windows Defender KB0915597
Downloaded and ready to install
Then I do the install and it says done - you have successfully updated
your computer. BUT then the little yellow icon reappears on my desktop and
starts all
over...Yes I have restarted etc!!
I use Windows XP and the Defender is up to date.

Remove WU downloads from the temporary folder:-

Stop the Automatic Updates service

Click Start, Choose Run.
In the Run box, type services.msc.
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
Click Stop.
Stopping the service will take a moment.

Delete the contents of the Download folder
Click Start. Choose Run.
In the Run box, type %windir%\SoftwareDistribution
Click OK.
Open the Download folder.
Delete all contents of the Download folder.
Close the window.

Start the Automatic Updates service
Click Start. Choose Run.
In the Run box, type services.msc.
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
Click Start.
Starting the service will take a moment.

By deleting the contents of the Download folder - you have removed any downloaded updates.
