Mysterious MS08-009, KB943992

I have only MS Office Word/Excel 2003 and PowerPoint 2007 Viewers installed.
No complete Office Suites present on my system.

This patch doesn't apply to to MS Office Word 2003 Viewer SP3,
according to this security bulletin.


MS Office Word 2003 Viewer SP3 is installed on my system.
However, MBSA 2.0.1 claims I would need MS08-009, KB943992.

Is this some bug of MBSA database or any inconsistence of my
system ?

Using Internet Explorer, go here and have the Office Update page scan
the system:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/do...incatalog.aspx

At first it will install an ActiveX component and then check that the
installed Office software is Genuine. Then go back to the page and have
the system scanned.
I was surprised to learn that there was a couple of Service Packs for
the installed Word and Excel Viewers on my system.
You can click the More Details links to see what the updates are about
and even access the MS Download Center page to manually download the
updates via the links under the updates.
I did the updates manually, BTW. <w>

This update certainly is a mystery as it keeps on appearing on my update list
all the time, subsequently, my system keeps on trying to install it with no
joy. I have the complete mso 2003 suite, tried troubleshooting on the website
but still no luck. does anyone have a solution or do we just ignore it?
