mysterious problem file sharing

No problems sharing any other files.
Until yesterday. I made a shared subfolder containing some .mht files (web
pages of interest).

Now when I log on to my shared folder (Vista laptop) with the PC (Win2K), I
can see the folder, but it seems empty! No files are marked as hidden. What
can be going on?
