Name of key pressed box pops up...how to turn off??

Hello, I dont even know how to word my problem in order to search for the
answer so I hope someone knows what im talking about!

When I press a key (shift, control, alt...etc but not the letter or number
keys) a little box pops up for the duration of the key press that says what
key I am pressing. For example, every time i hit the "shift" key, a little
box pops up that says Shift until I let go of the key. This is incredibly
annoying. Does anyone know how to stop it? I attempted to hold down the key
for a while to maybe turn it off but that doesnt do anything and I attempted
to hold down the key and click on the box but that doesnt do anything either.
I have no idea how this little "feature" got turned on and just seems to have
started all on its own one day.

Check the Control Panel/Ease of Access/Keyboard settings.
