im having some issues with my NAS. It's a generic caddy with lan
connectivity and samba & ftp protocols. All my documents are stored in the
public folder on the drive and there is no username & password required. I
have a Netgear DG834G, 1 pc connected via ethernet cable to the router, 1 pc
connected via wireless as well as a notebook again connected wirelessly. All
3 machines are running Vista Home Premium.

All pcs see the storage device in the Network, double clicking on its icon
allows me to see the Public & Printers folders on the hdd. If I double click
on the Public folder quite often the window will freeze and I get the good
old 'Not Responding' in the title bar. This does happen on all 3 pcs, and
only since upgrading to Vista. Under XP it works like a dream.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

There have been a lot of problems reported in the Vista newsgroups with
NAS devices. The general consensus is to check with the NAS mftr. for
updated firmware.
