I Need to Fix Recent Items...

I can't remember how to change the default setting of the Recent Items on the
Start menu from alphabetical to date order in Vista Home Premium. I did it on
my desktop a year ago- I seem to recall it was a Registry change- but on my
laptop I'm stuck with the useless alphabetical order.

I'd appreciate a refresher.

Larry,

Thanks for your prompt reply, however, none of those posts at the link
addresses my dilemma. The first one, in fact, describes how to "Manually
create a folder picture". I read it three times and it still makes no sense.
The others offer temporary work-arounds but none supply the Registry fix that
originally solved the problem.

CrucialHoax,

I found that site during my earlier search- it suggests an awkward
work-around and Registry tweaks for expanding the Recent Items list but no
solution for putting it in order of most recently used.

What frustrates me so much is I had the instructions and didn't save them.

This item might help, although even the writer thinks it's a bit awkward
:-)

http://www.brighthub.com/computing/w...les/25434.aspx

She also presents a couple of third-party solutions.

I haven't looked into the article or the links, since I actually *like* the
alphabetical sort (hangs head in shame).
