I am probably not technologically knowledgeable enought to provide al
the info need to help fix the problem. I have a new HP dv6335c
laptop with Vista. I could connect to VPN at work with XP no problems
Now I cannot connect at all. I understand that at work the use a Cisc
VPN system. I checked the Microsoft website and Vista is supposed to b
compabible with that system. I get 2 errors - Error 732 - Your compute
and remote computer could not agree on PPP protocols.

Can anyone help. Otherwise I have to by an XP notebook and I can'
afford to

Are you using Vista's built-in VPN or the Cisco client?

You need the Cisco VPN Client 5.0(340) for Windows Vista - there are
problems with the built-in one... ;-(

It's a bit tricky to get hold of - your work's IT dept should be able to
provide it.

(I got it via my Uni' and it works fine with Vista (32bit Home Basic) on
my Toshiba laptop)

Older versions are available here
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/...ct/vpn/client/
but NOT the one you want... ;-(

Interestingly, once I changed from the firms name - vmp firm's name .com
to their IP address, the error message I got was an 800 error message.
This is the one I used to get with HP if I did not disable my firewall
or there was a problem with VPN at my employer's end.

Not sure if I said that my firm uses Cisco. I'll have a look at the
link you sent to see if that helps.

Thanks.

Janice
