Each time I put a cd into my drive in order to use a 3rd party software to
rip it to my pc, Windows Media player immediately opens and starts to play
the cd. I close it but when I put in the next cd it hapens again. This is
quite annoying as I don't want to listen to it while I am RIping it to the pc
or my mp3 player. Is there anyway I can make media player not open
automatically and start playing when I am trying to RIP a cd?
Thanks.

Go to Control Panel, AutoPlay under the task you wish to do, change
the default action to something more appropriate like Ask Me Every
Time or Take no Action.

Control Panel has an AutoPlay app for that. There is a 'take no action'
setting.
