need help/new to vista premium

i just bought a new laptop with vista premium & ie7 and i'm having all kinds
of weird little problems i can't figure out.. i was hoping someone might know
if it is vista premium incompatibility as i had ie7 already on my old laptop
and experienced none of these things..

the biggest pain is when i click on pictures in my blog they are designed to
come up in a small pop-up window, but now they come up in 2 windows
simultaneously/overlapping instead.. one small proper window and another full
screen one of the same picture that 'takes over' the blog page stopping the
mp3 player and irritating me.. i've tried all the different ie7 browser
settings but nothing fixes it.. it seems others are able to view the blog
properly but my laptop has the problem.. (the pix both have the exact same
url and this affected pix going back over a year that used to work perfectly
normally)..

then there's a forum that i used to go to that is connected to the
zoints.com community.. for some reason i can no longer post there.. when i
try to post it says i need to log in and then when i try to it says i'm
already logged in! i've signed off using my old laptop and conversed with
'help' on the forum's side, but it seems to be my laptop once again..

then i also find it is deleting cookies i set up to block my own hits on my
statcounter.. every few days it does this on it's own..

i'm also having trouble with my music host, which may or may not be related..

the picture duplication is the biggest problem..
i've heard there are lots of bugs with vista.. has anyone had similar
problems? or could anyone suggest what i might try to fix these things?
