I NEED HELP!!!! PLZ!

my windows update is so screwed up. i have 25 that i needed re downloaded ( i had to erase my comp and put everything back) but i cant get them done! it says i need 23 now but i cant find the other 2 that i downloaded. i managed 2 so i thought doing one at a time would work but it hasnt. i reinstalled all of my drivers and everything, ive got everything enabled that should be and i accept all cookies. ive done all the trouble shooters and still nothing. i get a pop up window sometimes that says that the software im installing isnt compatible with windows xp home edition. but that isnt true because ive had them installed before. i need help!! ive tried everything but throwing this piece of junk away. i am running DSL too if that helps. so my install shouldnt take all day for just one.

i forgot to say that i can download all the updates i need. but i cant install them.
