Need help restoring sound

I have windows Vista Basic. And was having problems hearing soun
through my HP w1707 monitor. I went to Control Panel->Sounds->Chang
Sound card settings. I must've clicked something wrong because now
can't even hear my sound through speakers or earphones. There is a red
on the speaker icon in my bottom right corner. Can anyone help me get m
sound back
