Need help setting a password for a drive

I just purchased a new Dell computer and have placed my old hard drive into
an external enclosure which I access through a usb cord.

My question is:
Given that the external Hard Drive is mobile, I want to put a password on it
so that when I try to access its contents from any computer, a prompt will
appear asking me for a password.

Please let me know if there is a possibility on doing this.
