I just purchased a new HP computer, so I'm trying to adjust to windows vista
home premium. Everything was going ok until yesterday. My hard drive came
pre-partitioned (C,D, and E). Hard drive E was the drive I wanted to use for
storage of my personal files. Anyway when I turned on the computer yesterday
hard drive E's icon was different ( default icon of windows I guess). My
drive works fine, but the icon is driving me crazy. Is there anything I can
due to regain the hard drive icon and not what I now have. I'm not sure if
this is a windows vista problem or an HP computer problem.
Thanx

Does the next message from Nick help?

I haven't tried on a fixed disk but you can change the icon using a
oeminfo.ini file.

Is your icon as same as what I've attached to this post? If yes, then the
difference in the two drives is that one has Vista installed, while the
other simply doesn't. Both icons represent a hard disc, with the above
mentioned difference. I don't know of any "simple" solution for changing
drive icons, but try reading this post:

I have the same deal - XP on C, Vista on D, different icons - just as Emil
posted.
Now my obsessive/compulsive/neurotic side has something to focus on -
THANKS!

I figure I need to find the file/icon that represents D and replace it with
the one that
represents C - this should be fun.

OH LOOK - a chicken...............................

Happy New Year all.
