What files and what Windows 8 are we talking about. Maybe you meant Windows 7 Beta
and then in any case that can be the cause of your issue.

Use System Restore to go back to before all this happened. Otherwise
you'll need to get support on the website you downloaded it from I would
imagine.

Then you're screwed. Serves you right for messing around with something you
know nothing about.

An interesting situation... Why would you download somebody's concept of
Windows 8 in an attempt to make Vista look like XP?

Maybe you should try to contact Mufflerexoz at deviantart..

For Vista system restore, go to Control Panel > System > System protection
(left side column)..

You can boot your machine from a Bart PE boot disk and rename/repair
your various files without starting Vista.
If you don't have a boot disk you can download an image I made some time ago:

UBCD4Win_part1.rar (85.83 MB)
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?52jieumzikd
UBCD4Win_part2.rar (32.67 MB)
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?zmgfn2zzw1d

They are rar files, you'll need Winrar to unpack them.
They unpack to a 350 M/b iso image. Burn that to cd and boot from it.
