Need help working on my home pc

having trouble attempting to use windows update. I think something was
deleted from my registry. maybe Windows Management Instrumention software?
ANy clues why windows update would not respond or any other software on the
pc not respond to updating. Also noticed do not get a question about
activiting active x controls? somrething similiar? Thanks in advance..
