Need Lame Mpeg layer 3 audio for Vista

On my XP machine I have Mpeg layer 3 as an option for compressing audio
files. How can I get this as an option on my Vista Hm Premium machine and
how do I load it so it shows up as an option? Thank you for your help.

Thanks pacinitaly. I had googled it but when I found the file it looked
strange. lame-398_2.tar.gz The file extention was new to me and I
wasn't sure if I should try to open it. I finally got brave and extracted
the files to a temp folder but now I don't know how to install it. There
aren't any instructions on what or where to install it. I want to use the
mpeg layer 3 on several program such as Camtasia and Windows Sound Recorder
but am unsure how to install lame for those programs.

try these, I use lame stuff on my XP machine
My vista does not have the ability to record anything except via th
mic
from what I've read, win7 is the same. actually, my problem is m
soundcard. my next rig will also be a laptop so I know I will not b
able to record using my fav program M.E.S.S.E.
