Assuming your problem isn't it being cluttered with junk, malware or
in desperate need of defragging, try overclocking it. That makes the
CPU run faster. How well or even if you can depends on your BIOS and
motherboard and the type/make/model of your CPU. Do a Google for your
particular make and model for more specifics. Overclocking can boost
performance typically in the 10-30% range. The more you push it the
less stable your system will become. Today there is no need to fiddle
with the hardware itself, it is all done from your BIOS.

First, you can spend less time posting the same question in two
different threads just momenst after opening the first thread and then
devote that time to tweaking.

Say Pauly, did it make you feel big and powerful trying to browbeat
somebody asking for help? I bet it gave you a woody too.

****ing moron assholes in this newsgroup. I do love to kick them all
in their big dumb asses. They deserve it, and nobody does it better.
Now crawl back in your hole.

It depends... need more info....

Generally;

Get rid of any 'bloatware' or un-needed progs running in the background.
Only run stuff in system tray when needed.
DON'T run multiple AV / Spyware / Health Check progs...

Clean out Temp dirs and defrag system.

Possibly (?) use a GOOD reg cleaner (i.e. EasyCleaner 2).

Look at your AntiVirus prog - it is a resource hog? Is there a 'slimmer'
(free) version available?

Consider a clean install of the OS if it's been installed more than a
couple of years. This will really help.

How much RAM do you have? - increase up to 2GB if possible - it's cheap
now... $$$
Install a bigger, faster hard drive... $$$

DON'T try to overclock your laptop's CPU or GPU - you will fry it before
you see any useful speed increase....

Terrible idea.

Even IF using a registry cleaner didn't have the known hazards, it
would still make no sense. There will be NO - repeat, NO -
perceptible speed benefit from doing a "cleaning".

Not with Vista.

With XP I have got rid of lots of crap from the registry, and got a
faster startup.

There are all kinds of idiots in newsgroups like this that give lame
advice. Your job is to decide who and who don't know what they're
talking about.
