Need mm-dd-yy for date but helpless

I am from India and by default, Vista accords dd-mm-yy for short dates,
which is creating problem in Excel. I tried to look for options but in
Vista, Regional settings, there is just no setting for having mm-dd-yy. What
should I do?

I don't have Vista in front of me, but in XP you use the Control
Panel's "Regional and Language Options" applet. "Regional Options"
tab, you can use the drop-down and explore the options there, or just
click the "Customize..." buttons and set whatever formats you want.

Vista should have a very similar Control Panel applet.

In 7 (I don't have Vista available here to check), as in XP and other
versions I have used, do this:

Right click on the time in the System Tray (Notification Area, if you
call it that).

Choose Adjust Date/Time

Click on Change date and time

Click on Change Calendar settings; two panels pop up

In the middle of the panel that's in the foreground there is a date tab
with settings for mm-dd-yy and so on; make your needed changes. Also,
if you cancel that panel, the panel that was behind it has similar
settings. It's a bit weird :-)

Of course, my system is localized for the US, but I hope the above
works for you.
