Need Net Framework

OS: Win98SE

When I try to run apps. including Word, I get a message that I need net
framework 1.1

At the MS, .NET site it give 3 different types of frameworks for download:
general user, redistributal, SDK.

For the general user (me) it directs me to the Windows Update page, but in
my list of installed updates, net framework is listed as being succeffully
installed.

I can't tell how to get to it or find it to Reinstall it.

How do I put it back on my system--the general one & not the redist. or SDK?
(is there anyway to clear entries in the installed list, that are no longer
on the system?)

Download it here. Then go to windows update to download the latest security
patch:
