Hi! I have not backed up anything since buying computer in January. There
really is not much on computer. But, I find I am having problems with Vista
and several programs lately that I downloaded. I have done the reinstall
from the dates. I did not know that I could not go back after that and go to
the original setting. I have found the original setting on another drive. I
do not know how to use it.

I am brand new to Vista. My last operating system was Windows 98SE and used
Windows Explorer and Windows 98SE. I do not understand Vista at all. It
seems things have become harder instead of easier. The computer I am using
is a Dell Desktop.

Please help and I promise to create recover disks from now on.

Check your computer manual, or the support web site, for details on how to
restore the PC to the same state you bought it in. The process varies from
brand to brand so we cannot tell you how to do it to your particular
computer.

Returning your computer to factory condition has nothing at all to do with
Vista and works just the same as it has for years. You restore from the
recovery partition by pressing a function key right after starting the
computer. I don't know which key Dell uses but HP uses the F11 key. Good
luck.
