when I try to download a pdf file with acrobat reader I get a small square in
the top left hand corner with a square, circle and triangle inside. I have
downloaded pdf files a few weeks ago but nothing now but this square. Any
ideas please.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When I start up my machine it always says at the bottom of the screen there
is a windows update. It is always service pack 2. I had service pack 2
installed by a local computer shop about 2 months ago so surely it should not
tell me it needs installing. When I run to install it, it configures? moves
files about, then stops, moves the files back and says cannot install. Any
ideas what I've done wrong please.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Last one. When I use 'Word' and click on install clip art, type in a
subject into the search box and then click search I get 'clip organiser
cannot complete operation' error code 0x8007007F. I've had a computer
engineer round to sort this out but he failed to resolve it after 3 hours
trying. Have I completely bust something?

If anyone looks at this lot, many thanks. If I do get a reply and do not
respond it is because I can't find this site again, not because I am rude.
It is something to do with hi-tech kit and low-tech brains. Cheers.

I'll try -

For PDF problems

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=305153
Internet Explorer Opens a Blank Page with a Placeholder Icon Instead of a .pdf File
in Adobe Acrobat Reader

and/or
Troubleshooting problems opening PDF files in Internet Explorer window:
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/ie/pdf.htm
and/or
http://www.colba.net/~hlebo49/files.htm

Regarding the clipart problem
http://msauer.mvps.org/clip_organizer_support.htm
Microsoft Clip Art & Media Help

To clear the Auto Update of SP2
First of all make sure SP2 is installed:
Click Start, Select Run, now type in: WINVER
Press Enter

Then to stop the Automatic Updates service, clear the contents of the DataStore and
Download folders, (if appropriate EventCache) and restart the Automatic Updates
service

1. Stop the Automatic Updates Service.
Click Start, Choose Run.
In the Run box, type services.msc.
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service. Select Properties.
Under Service status, click Stop.
Click OK

2. Now you’ll need to clean out the Download folder for WU5 by deleting the Contents
of the DataStore and Download folders.
Click Start, Choose Run.
In the Run box, type %windir%\SoftwareDistribution.
Click OK.
Delete the contents of both the DataStore, (and perhaps the EventCache) and Download
folders.

You will lose your WUv5 History – not important

When you’re ready:
Start the Automatic Updates Service
Click Start, Choose Run.
In the Run box, type services.msc.
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service. Select Properties.
Under Service status, click Start.
Click OK.

Sorry, did not work. I followed you suggestions and deleted files as you
suggested but still no updates available. The last installed was from 24
October.
