Need to undo sync mess

Hi All,

I just picked up responsibility for an SBS WS03 server.
The customer has a Vista desktop.

The customer can not delete anything from his
My Documents as they all have green circles on them,
meaning they need to sync. The customer wants a
plain old put my My Documents on the server. Has
no idea how Sync got turned on in the first place.

How do I turn sync off and get all his My Documents
back on the server where they belong? I can not figure
out who is doing what to who. :'[

Once you have the offline files problem fixed (turn off sync at the
workstation level), use Folder Redirection to put the All Users' My
Documents on the server.

Sounds like the documents are already on the server. You can just r-click
My Documents on the Vista Start Menu -> Properties to verify.

The green icons indicate that the documents housed on the server are
synchronizing to the Vista PC so they're available offline. Green indicates
that sync is functioning properly. It's on by default, and what you're
seeing is normal. Other than the different icon, offline sync should be
transparent to the user, especially in Vista where it works better than it
did with XP.

If the user is unable to delete documents, what specifically happens when he
tries?

He gets told he can not delete the message until another computer
sync's with the server.

What I eventually did was two fold on his workstation:

1) Local Computer Policy
Computer Configuration
Administrative Templates
Network
Offline Files (in the left pane.)

2) Control Panel
Offline files
Click on Disable Offline Files (or some such) button

Two reboots later and happy camping has returned.

Thank you for all the links and suggestions. It really
helped me get my mind wrapped around this. I was completely
off in the weeds looking for some setting on the server.
