Net 2 reinstalled, patched successfully

Since my v1.1 section of Net framework updated successfully I couldn't see
why it was necessary to uninstall everything so I just uninstalled Net 2
with Add Remove
The Windows update still listed the patch as necessary even though I had
uninstalled so I double checked the Windows/Software distribution folder and
deleted any reference to a net download. Changed the AU (autoupdate
configuration) to be warn only.

Downloaded the cleanup utility, installed and it did not display Net 2
Downloaded both the original Net 2 and the patch to save on hard drive
Installed Net2 and patch- rebooted and all logs reported successful
installation.
Went to Windows Update and no updates were listed.

I guess there was a fault in the original NET 2 that was installed last
summer when the machine was new.
All the same there are many other ways that a Sunday could be used<grin>
