Same issue here - v3 downloaded but would not install.
I saw another post that recommended uninstalling previous versions so I
tried that - uninstalled 1, 1.1 hotfix and 2 in Add/Remove Programs. Despite
all the dire warnings nothing bad happened.
Went back to Update and v 3.0 finally installed. Update then had me go back
and install all the previous versions with patches - everything is fine now.
Funny, I assumed v3 would have been cumulative, but I guess not. You will
still end up re-installing previous versions.
