.net framework 1.1 needed if you also have 3.5?

I have both Microsoft .net framework 1.1 and 3.5 installed on my computer. Do
I need both?

Yes. I think 1.x was different enough that there is no support for it in
later versions. I'm not certain about 2.0 and if 3.5 supports it or not.

Yes if something you have installed needs it. All the versions of .Net
Framework - 1.1, 2.0, 3.5, etc. - are completely separate and different
from each other. IOW, they are not versions of the same program. Software
you have installed was built using some flavor of .Net and if you
uninstall .Net, that program won't work.
