.NET FRAMEWORK 1.1 SERVICE PACK 1 cannot install after uninstallin

I installed .NET FRAMEWORK 1.1 SERVICE PACK 1 - no problem. I uninstalled it
as I did not think I needed it. I need it for work so I tried to install it
both from Microsoft updates as well as its download page on Microsoft web
site-will not install. Maybe with a 500+ memory it is not enough. I have
..NET 2.2 & 3 installed.

I hope someone can help me

What is the error message you get when
trying to re-install?

Please state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Vista x64 SP2) when
posting to this newsgroup.

Why did you uninstall .NET Frameword 1.1 SP1?

1. Before doing anything else, write down the .NET Framework versions which
are already installed:

How to determine which versions of the .NET Framework are installed and
whether service packs have been applied

2. Now see Resolution Method 2 in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923100
(ignore the title). After running the appropriate/needed tool, (re)install
all .NET Framework versions manually using the download links on the page.
