Net Framework 1.1 sp1 Problems Anyone?

I read some of the older forum issues on this. I have just (1-22-06)
installed it via ms update, now they want to install sp1 for it.
I have XP Home sp2 fresh re-install on a great system now and want to know
if there are any problems with the sp1 for my recent net framework 1.1
version.One of the forum letters stated that micro soft was aware of the
issues that were causing problems back then(something to do with Net
library?).
Did they take care of those issues yet and is it safe for me w/ my system,
to install the Net framework sp1 now?

..net framework 1.1 sp 1 is for .net framework 1.1

even we are using windows xp sp 2, we still need to install this update.

I have been having problems trying to install this update. Any suggestions?
It downloads fine but when installing it comes up with an error message.
