.Net Framework prob

Ran upgrades SP1 SP2 and security updates. I got everything updated. However,
the last update that windowsupdate says I need is .Net Framework 1.1 SP1. I
try to install but I get the following error:

Installation Failure

Error Code: 0x80131700
Try to install the update again, or request help from one of the following
resources.

I didn't think it was that big of deal, but now I realize I cannot go to
'Windows Help and Support' program and use it. When I do and click on a
troubleshooting title I get the following error:

To run this application, you first must install one of the following
versions of the .Net Framwork: v1.1.4322
Contact your application publisher for instructions about obtaining the
appropriate version of the .Net Framework.

My sister is having me clean her computer off bcuz she had over a 100
viruses. I got the viruses removed using HijackThis, but I might have removed
the original .Net Framework version in the process.

Any help would be great.
