Installed many updates. Only .net 1.1 failed. V2.0 installed OK in XP
Pro. Tried restart and ran Windows Update again. 1.1 failed again.

This is what I got from Microsoft

===================
The issue can be caused by a corrupted windows update folder. At this time,
let us try the following steps to troubleshoot the issue.

1. Click "Start", "Run", type: "notepad C:\remove.bat" (without quotations)
and press Enter. Choose "Yes" when you are prompted.

2. Copy the following commands and then paste them into the opened Notepad
window.

net stop wuauserv

net stop CryptSvc

ren %windir%\system32\catroot2 catroot2.old

ren %windir%\SoftwareDistribution sold.old

net start CryptSvc

net start wuauserv

3. After you paste the above commands, please close the "Notepad" window.
Choose "Yes" when you are prompted to save the file.

4. Click "Start", "Run", type: "C:\remove.bat" (without quotations) and
press "Enter" to run the commands that were pasted.

After we have finished the above steps, please restart the computer and try
to update Windows again.
===================

Hey Wilkins, i triedyour fix and restarted and tried installing updates but
it failed again.I have tried about 2o times and my review history keeps
showing error 0x643.I also tried a search for flash.ocx and swflash.ocx and
found two instances of flash.ocx and removed them but this also didn't do the
trick. One thing that did happen though is that yellow update shield is gone
advising me updates are now available to install.I tried manuel installation
as i said and this failed as i said.Got any other remedies? Frustated

On the MS Update website, there is a link somewhere (sorry, I forget where)
that says something about contacting Microsoft. I think the link is under
your update history (failed) somewhere. Microsoft is very responsive. Over
the years I've had 2-3 issues with updates and they have always e-mailed me
and resolved the issue, even if it took a few days/trys.

Start a free Windows Update support incident request:
https://support.microsoft.com/oas/de...spx?gprid=6527

For home users, no-charge support is available by calling 1-866-PCSAFETY in
the United States and in Canada or by contacting your local Microsoft
subsidiary. There is no-charge for support calls that are associated with
security updates. When you call, clearly state that your problem is related
to a Security Update and cite the update's KB number (e.g., KB999999).

For more information about how to contact your local Microsoft subsidiary
for security update support issues, visit the International Support Web
site: http://support.microsoft.com/common/international.aspx

For enterprise customers, support for security updates is available through
your usual support contacts.
