I've been trying to install Net Framework Update Sp3 (867461) but to no
avail, since december 2004! :-(
Error code is Ox643
I tried it manually only to get Error Code 1706 (No Valid Source).

What Should I be doing to get this update installed?

Much Thanks!

Hi;

Can you download the full file and install it offline? See
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Hi ''Sky King'' and thanks for link for manual download.
I had tried this earlier and not much luck there neither. :-(
Installation stops with error:1706 (Whatever that means?).
Indications that there is '' no valid source - netfx.msi '' ?
Where would I get: netfx.msi as I've searched automatically
throughout my computer and this file is not present on my computer.

I thank you very much for your response!.... ;-)

Hi,

This could be a problem with the version of MS Installer that is on your
system. Suggest you download and install the newer 3.1 Installer
package, then give the Net Framework update installation another shot
after doing that.

Here's the download link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/893803 (click
the "For other versions of Windows" download icon).

Hi;

I don't know what the issue could be. The webpage is working here, but
it could be that you hit it when the MS servers were overloaded or in
some sort of maintenance mode. Please give that website another shot.

Here is the link for the download page taken from the above KB site:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

The download is about 2.5MB.

Elaborate. What does "does not work" mean?
What are your symptoms when you use that link?

Also, to be clear, because sometimes that web interface to newsgroups
that you are using does funny things to links, I suggest instead of clicking
on it that you copy it to your browser's Address bar (e.g. assuming IE is
your browser) and press Enter there.

Depending on what you describe you may have a malware issue.
E.g. one example was even caused by a common third-party toolbar
as evidenced by the fact that the symptom stopped as soon as that
product was uninstalled.

There may be other reasons why that particular link "doesn't work"
(e.g. Language setting) but without further details it is rather pointless
to speculate about them.

Hi Robert,

'Does not work'...meant that the link led me to an inactive Internet page.

The new link provided by Tom ..... works! I was able to download the
newer version of windows Installer version 3.1..... and installed same.

However, Net framework1.0_SP3 (Microsoft critical update) fails to
install....

:-(

What tool bars could be the cause?
I have Google, Websters Dictionary, and ICQ toolbars....

Thanks for your comments....

Regards!

Yes. The Google toolbar has been associated with that symptom,
particularly with URLs from the microsoft.com domain name.
