Nothing will happen, unless you have software on your system that depends on
it.

I only have .Net 1 and 1.1 and 2. I never installed 3. I see there is a
problem with the Update for .Net1.1?.

What happens if I just remove all the .Net framework software?

is there a way to determine this besides removing .net and see what fails?

I don't know a general way to find out.

Yes, but what software products do you have installed? How would you go
about enumerating every piece of code on your system in order to determine
whether or not it uses the .NET Framework, and if so, which version it uses?

There isn't a list somewhere that says what software uses what .net
framework?

I'm using XP SP2 HE with all the needed security patches so my OS won't
be affected?

Actually, I'd suggest you start a new thread, either here or in
microsoft.public.dotnet.framework entitled something like "How to remove
..NET Framework if I don't need it". That will get you an expert answer.

Any answer from me would be a guess, as I've programmed in .NET for the past
six years - removing it has never been a priority of mine! If I gave you
advice on how to remove it, I'd probably miss something important.

Good luck!

I'm using the same programs I used on Windows 98SE and I didn't have any
.Net framework on 98SE, did I?

So the easiest way to do it is remove all the versions of .Net framework
and see what barks?

Can I use Add/Remove programs in Control Panel or do I need to use the
MS Windows Installer CleanUp utility?

Both 1.1 and 2.0 (and their patches) appear in my Add/Remove list so in
theory at least they can be removed from there. A more important question is
"How can I determine if I need .NET at all?" and I think Ill ask that in
microsoft.public.dotnet.framework.

Thanks for the pointer.
