Net ports for MS sharing?

Can somebody tell me what ports (in my router) have to be unblocked so that
Microsoft sharing works? Thanks.

You don't have to unblock any ports on your router. That would open your
computers to sharing over the Internet which is a very bad idea. If you
can't share over your local network something else is causing the problem.
It is most likely a firewall running on one or more of the computers.

I agree with Kerry that it is not a good idea, but to answer your question
Microsoft File and Printer sharing uses UDP ports 137 & 138 and TCP ports
139 & 445.

Thats not necessary for Sharing Files and Folders in Windows Vista. Click
Start > Network > on the command bar > click Network and Sharing Center >
under Sharing and Discovery, make sure that Public Sharing is enable (click
the chevron beside to expand its contents) > click the Turn On Radio box) >
also make sure that Network Discovery is enabled.

Other things to consider include ensuring that both computers are in the
same workgroup, you can also try setting up a static IP Address for both
systems.
