I have a Windows 2003 R2 Standard DC server SP2
Windows XP Pro pc
Windows 7 Pro
Windows Vista Business

when I do a net send * test all it shows on all my windows 2003 servers and
my windows xp pro pc's
the vista and win 7 do not get it
after some work i found that windows vista and win 7 do not have the
messenger service and you need to use msg.exe to send it to them but when I
do from my windows 2003 server this command msg * /server:VISTA test message
i get these errors

error opening terminal server vista
error (1722) the rpc server is unavalable

what do i need to set on the vista and win 7 pc to allow them to receive
msg's

I use Kaspersky Internet Suite on both they both have a firewall so i am not
using wndows firewall
I stopped the firewall on both and I still get the same messages

Any Ideas or suggestions

Thanks

Tom

You may try to enable File and Printer Sharing. This search result may help.
