Just wondering if anyone has been able to verify that the problem update so
many of us have been having trouble with, .net 1.1 sp1, was actually a valid
update for Vista. It still seems a bit strange that a service pack that old
wasn't incorporated into the .net installation in Vista.

HI Engel,

Thanks for the reply. I did follow the earlier posts, and have completed
the manual install of SP1, subsequently Windows Update found that
installation and downloaded and installed the latest security update for SP1.
I suppose I shouldn't worry about it now, but I was really hoping for
someone to come back and verify that SP1 is indeed a valid update for Vista.
As I said, it just seems strange that we had such a hassle installing it, and
since it's so old it wasn't incorporated into Vista.

Anyway, thanks again for the reply!

Larry

(copy/pasted from my other post)

I had the same problem for several days, and posted to the thread with 70+
replies. I ignored it until today, when I followed someone's suggestion to
find the downloaded file and right-click and Run as Administrator (Vista). It
installed properly from there. However that was an old update (dated
2004)....and just 15
minutes ago I got another downloaded update for the same NET Framework 1.1,
but this time it was a new one dated today 11/30/2007. That one installed
successfully first try.

Fallstar,

I believe that would have been the security patch for the service pack,
(SP1), that we were having so much trouble with.
