.NET update failure (repeated)

I have had repeated failures with the latest .NET update.

I have tried clearing the stored data files as suggested but this has not
worked. This has wasted two hours of important time.

What sort of product is this? The reliability I have not been having with
Vista is bringing me close to going the Apple way. I would use Linux except
that would block some important photo processing programs from use.

It says how to down load the update and run it manually
