NetDiag is apparently deprecated in Windows 2008 or just doesn't work. (I cannot imagine why this would be unless there is some newer or better tool.) DCDiag is built in if the server is a DC. This is the Windows Server general support for (at least) Windows 2003 and 2008 (maybe 2000 too although there were older 2000 groups). Hopefully the MS newsgroup admins will get away from version specific names on newsgroups -- they are generally not that useful -- unless there is some overwhelming reason in a particular instance and/or a major departure in the product. 2000-2008 Server should all be in the same group for most subsystems anyway, although 2000 has it's own set of groups. Vista probably deserves a group (at least one) separate from XP. I too am interested to hear about Netdiag or alternatives in 2008. FWIW: You might try to GUI/icon Network repair button in the tool tray if you just have a problem -- it is loosely similar to NetDiag /fix. |

Hello ulyses_96,
If you do an inplace upgrade form 2003 with support tools installed before, it will be also there in 2008 and works like before. Additional just extract it from 2003 support tools and copy it to 2008 and it will work also. Did it both ways for testing and works without any problem. Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. ** Please do NOT email, only reply to Newsgroups ** HELP us help YOU!!! http://www.blakjak.demon.co.uk/mul_crss.htm > does anyone know where is netdiag for windows server 2008? i've looked > up and down the interent and i cant find anything. tried installing > the windows 2003 support tools sp2 verison and it told me it wasnt > compatible. also is there a 2008 support forum like this one.? > |
