.NetFramework 1.1 - Resolution for Code 643 - KB929729

I'd renamed the SoftwareDistribution Folder, I granted Full Permission Rights
and neither of these resolved the installation issue of KB929729. I then
found a solution from Chris Rowat.
Windows Update Icon appeared in taskbar soon after Windows Loaded prior to
installing the KB update. I installed the update then shutdown and let
windows update continue during the shutdown process. The update was detected
and when I booted up, Windows Update had been put to rest. The update was
detected.

Follow these directions:

Download and run the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility, and remove the .NET
framework 1.1 from the machine.

Download .NET framework 1.1 from the Microsoft website and install it

Reboot your machine, then install .NET 1.1 SP1 from the Microsoft website
and reboot your computer again. Then try to take the update once again.

Windows Installer Cleanup Utility

..NET Framework 1.1 - This download took forever and never finished so I
cancelled it and went to FileHippo to download the file.

..NET 1.1 SP1

Thanks to Chris Rowat for the Updated Instructions:

Thanks for the help it worked great for clearing up the reappearing update
that would not install (KB928366). Installed perfectly after following the
instructions.

I need more details. You said you were downloading Service Pack and it
ended. Were you saving it to documents and it closed during the download?

Are you using IE7 and Vista? If so, Launch IE7 using Run As Administrator
in order to download the File or use this link to download it from:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en

Be sure to uninstall .NetFramework 1.1, using the Windows Install Cleanup
Tool. Cleanup tool file is known as msicuu2.exe and the .NetFramework 1.1
file is known as dotnetfx.exe. It was faster to download it from filehippo.
Just click on the Green Down Arrow on the right.
