If you go to windows update and select "custom install," you can uncheck the
updates that have already been installed. It might just be a quick fix, but
it has fixed my problem, which is the same one you are experiencing.

By the way, I found this out by doing a search on google. It's much faster
than trying to find a solution on Microsoft's frustrating website!

Custom Install says they were installed but if you go to add/remove programs
the 2 updates are not listed and the icon in the task bar says they are
ready to be installed again

Do you see any other threads here about the .NET Framework updates?

I found another post that gives a telephone number for Microsoft and it is a
FREE call, here is the number 1-866-PCSAFETY - it is Microsoft Product
Support Service and the person who posted it says to tell them it is an
Automatic Update issue that way the call is free. I have also sent an email
to Microsoft in their Tech Support and have to wait at least one business day
for a reply. I'm going to call as soon as I have about two hours or more to
spare!!
Thanks to all of you for your help and support

Thank you for your help! I did send the report last night and printed the
page with my confirmation number, still didn't call yet - I just didn't have
the time. I did switch the recommened install box to "Custom Install" and
unchecked the download then told it not show it again, and this has stopped
the annoying pop-up for now. Also I checked in the Add/Remove Programs and
like some of you I too do not have it listed as being installed. But if I
check my Microsoft Update list of programs installed it is there six times in
a row because at first when this started happening I wasn't sure what was
going on and was letting it try to reinstall

is tough to post)
