.NetFramework updates and WU/AU

Somebody mentioned to me that there is a bug somewhere either with Win XP SP3
and/or WU/AU where if SP3 is installed, it may not detect any security
updates for any .net Framework versions.

I haven't tried it myself to confirm yet.

The "bug" is that it won't offer up .NET 3.0 whereas SP 2 does.

Personally I think you should pass on .NET installs unless you truly
need them for a business app and then the app installs it for you.

I agree actually. Somewhere down the line, if you have 3.5 SP1 installed,
and there are security updates, you will basically be updating software
that's not even used.

From the official WSUS blog, I read that .net FW 3.5 SP1 isn't offered yet
but maybe in January. I'd assume it applies to WU/AU
