netfx.msi - kb886906

hi - i have xp home edition running h.p. athlon sp2 ie7 and i am having
problems with this update kb886906, i have run the gauntlet of contacting
windows support and received the same advise as others with this same issue
but without success.
I have removed all traces of framework v 1.1 & v1.0 and downloaded and
installed framework v 2.0 without any problems but still cannot do this
update, when researching the problem i found what i thought might be of some
help (netfx.msi) so i put this in the run box and was promptly told windows
could not find it.
Any suggestions on this would be appreciated.

KB886906 is NOT intended for .NET Framework 2.0 :
