Netscape Problem

My Netscape 4.79 Communicator can no longer run. It cannot complete the load
to
open up the browser. Windows 2000 shuts the program down after a few minutes
informing of a post to the error log. I cannot find this post. I thought
maybe one
of the windows updates have clobbered my Netscape. Any thoughts on this? I
have tried backing out some of the latest updates, but there was no change.
Could
I have missed something?

Are you certain that Win 2K is what is keeping Netscape from running and
not the antivirus/security software ?

No updates to the OS *should* be causing this issue.
If need be, you can redownload Netscape 4.79 from here:
http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=Netscape

There is no repair function via Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel
so you would have to uninstall Netscape, reboot, and then reinstall it
IF you want to continue running it.

I'm not sure why windows shut down netscape during this stalll, but I
am
guessing that the netscape problem cause some frequent page openings
and thus a stack overflow. I never did locate any pertinent error
messages
in the logs.

Thanks for the help,

I'd strongly advise against using Netscape 4.9 to browse the net. Even
V. 7.1 is weak, security wise. Niether version has been updated for
quite some time.
If you're just using the email client than be sure to Disable JavaScript
from, Edit, Preferences, Advanced, Scripts & Plug-ins.

Have you tried Firefox for browsing ? You can transfer Netscape
bookmarks easily to FF.
