Network Connection Icon in System Tray

Under Windows XP, when I would connect to another network via VPN, I would
get an icon in the system tray indicating my connection in addition to the
icon for my "regular" connectivity to the internet/lan.

With Vista, a single icon serves as an indicator for any and all networks I
am currently connected to. How can I separate the icons to reflect the
behavior I had with XP?

Thanks,
~alan
