Network connection manage and windows update problems

After i install the following updates
Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer for Windows XP (KB896688)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB905749)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB900725)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB902400)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB899589)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB901017)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB905414)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB904706)
i can not ,manage my network connections ,download windows update
and i can not defrag the harddisks.
The only one solution i have found is to uninstall the updates.
Does any one knows a other way

Any chance you're affected by this?

KB905749 caused the problem for me, uninstalled it and all is fine again.
