network icon grayed out

My comp did an update a few minuts ago and rebooted and I noticed the
network icon was missing from the sytem tray and when I went to turn it back
on it is now disabled as is the power selection. Has anybody else
experienced this yet? Now I have no way of checking my network connection at
a glance.
