Network policy settings prevent you from using this website to get updates
for your computer.

When ever I try to update my window 2000, I am getting this message.

Hi,

See if you find a registry value NoWindowsUpdate or
DisableWindowsUpdateAccess that is set to 1.

Start/Run ==> regedit.exe

Under the registry key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion
\Policies\Explorer

delete the value "NoWindowsUpdate" if it exist.

Under the registry key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion
\Policies\Windows Update

delete the value "DisableWindowsUpdateAccess" if it exist.

Under the registry key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion
\Group Policy Objects\LocalUser\Software\Microsoft\Windows\
CurrentVersion\Policies\Windows Update

delete the value "DisableWindowsUpdateAccess" if it exist.

If you did any changes, log off and on again.

If the above didn't help:

Do a registry search (in regedit.exe, be sure to have "My Computer"
selected when starting each search)) for registry values with name

NoWindowsUpdate

and
DisableWindowsUpdateAccess

and
NoAutoUpdate

and delete if found.

Note that if your computer is member of an Active Directory domain,
and this this is a policy set with Group Policy, the registry
values will re-appear at next GPO-refresh.

To install items from Windows Update, you must be logged on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group. If your computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may also prevent you from completing this procedure. CaptainJack Windows Update 2 04-15-2004 01:11 PM
