Sorry if this is a FAQ but I did some searching and didn't find article
describing my problem. I have a couple of Vista Desktops and 3 X
machines and 1 Win7 machine on my home network. I can gain access to al
of the shares from any of the systems but the system that has the 1.5T
drive that I want to access most often from the other systems is a Vist
x64 Ult system and I can't seem to gain access to the share unless
actually login to the system on the physical machine. This wasn't th
case with XP so I am trying to decide if I need to configure "share o
boot option" or something similar in the Control Panel? Once I actuall
login (to any account) on the Vista x64 system I have no problem
accessing the shares, prior to that even if the machine has been boote
up for hours I still fail to access the network shares. It is fine i
Vista is supposed to do this due to a tighter security policy etc. but
am hoping there is a way to grant access w/ nobody logged in, since i
is a hassle when I don't need the system up for any other reason that t
access the shares

Hi
You can set the computer to Auto logon to an account of your choice.
Search the Internet for the term Vista Log On and choose the type of
solution that fits your system.

Interesting suggestion as a workaround, but that certainly shouldn't
be required, should it?

Arthur: All my life I've had this strange feeling that there's
something big and sinister going on in the world.
Slartibartfast: No, that's perfectly normal paranoia. Everyone in the
universe gets that.
