Did you manage to resolve your issue? I am seeing very similar situation. Home wireless network, one new Vista laptop, five other machines, of which four are XP and one is W2K. All on same workgroup.

All XP and W2K machines can see each other and can see the Vista laptop. Vista laptop can only see itself.

Have done extensive searches but found nothing that solves the issue (yet), so would appreciate anything you find that solves problem for you.

For one thing, all computers in the home network should have the same
workgroup name if you want them to be able to communicate with one another.
The default workgroup name for XP is MSHOME, and the default workgroup name
for Vista is WORKGROUP. So if you use the defaults, and you have both XP
computers and Vista computers in your network, you will not be able to
communicate between them.

I'm having the same issue. The XP machine can access the Vista Home Premium
machine but the Vista cannot access the XP machine. Even though Vista can
see the XP machine it says it can't find it when you try to access it.

It seems no one in the NG has an answer for it. At least they haven't come
forward with an answer.

I found my home network worked much better when I amended some Norton
Firewall settings in XP.

Have you tried turning off IPv6 on the vista machine?
