Networking 2 Vista enabled PCs

I have spent most of this week trying to network my new laptop to my desktop
with no success :-(

I have a desk top pc with Vista Home Premium installed connected via a cable
to an Orange Live Box and a laptop with Vista Home Premium installed and
connected to the same Orange Live Box wirelessly. I use the Orange Live Box
to access my broadband connection. I can access the net with both computers.

I want to view and access files on my desktop with my laptop. I have set up
sharing options with the folders concerned and can see them when I look in
the network connections however when I try to access these files and folders
I get a message saying "\\desktop\c: is not accessible. You might not have
permission to use this network resource. Contact the admistrator of this
server to find out if you have permissions." I get this message if I try
access files from either computer.

Now I'm sure there is an easy solution here but I will be stuffed if I can
see it.... Any help given will be gratefully received.

Andy

Cheers Paul, I've downloaded it and installed it on both my PC and laptop. I
can now access the files on my laptop frm my PC but not the other way (?) I
think I have upset something when I've been messing around before you
pointed me in the direction of Network Magic. I was thiking of formatting my
PC before this happened so I will try that, after I've exhausted everything
else I can think of!

If there is anyone else having the same initial problem of not been able to
network 2 computers, Network Magic seems to be the answer, simply install it
on all your computers make sure they are plugged/connected to your router
and away you go.

Thanks
Andy

Ok its taken a little while but I decided to format and reinstall, couldn't
believe how easy it was. Anyhow I can now access both computers from both
computers! I'm now going to wait to see what happens after 7 days when
Network Magic reverts to the 'free version', I'm very impressed at how easy
it was after I decided to reinstall Vista. Thanks again Paul, you've saved
me pulling what little hair I have left out.

Andy
