A few days ago windows update began showing an automatic security
update was required. As usual I said for it to go ahead. It was
successful, then it repeated. Then it repeated. Then it repeated. So I
tried rebooting, same thing happenned. On the manual side it indicated
the critical update was for Windows Live Toolbar KB 926295 (which is
installed but I don't use). I haven't found anything on the net so
far, hence this post.

My details:
Operating system Windows XP SP2
Update service set to update automatically
I have administrator rights
IE 7.0.5730.11

Thanks for the help!

Rd

I have been having this same problem for the last 3 days and have tried
everything that I can think of to solve the problem but even though it say's
installed successfully it keeps coming back. If I don't get some answer soon
the next trick is to un-install Live Toolbar

HI Rey
Thanks for the response. I tried all of those and I still have the same
problem. I have sent an email to support and we will see if I get a
response.

I tried to uninstall the toolbar and got error code 2738. What is
that? Is that a clue to this problem?

Hi RD
I just received a message from MS with a possible solution. After I try
what they supplied I will let you know if it works.

I've had the same problem that now has the addition of the itunes update
followed by the same error message. I'm dying to know what Bill found out,
but I think with so much time since his last post, it might not have worked.
I'll keep my eyes open though.

Hi Jason
So far no luck. I have done all that MS has given me to try and they
have asked for some reports that I will be sending today I hope. I
definitely will keep you informed. It is a pain. Until it's fixed you can go
to the windows update page and hide the update. This at least will stop the
update messages.

Thanks Bill, sucks for all of us since it didn't work. I appreciate you
being the middle man trying to get the fix to this. How do I disable(hide)
the update? I've tried for days but can't see where to hide it like you
could do with XP.

Thanks, Jason
