New Computer Running Slow with Vista

I just bough a Dell XPS 710 in July and I had chosen Vista as my OS. It was
fine for a few weeks, but in the last few weeks, it has been running slow
with everything from games to online (firefox and IE) to any program brought
up in the main interface. I've tried running programs as administrators and
running them with XP settings. I also called Dell and they didn't see
anything inherently wrong with the system, so I'm a little puzzled. I have a
laptop with much lower specs, runs XP, and performs faster. Please help, as
I'm seriously thinking of going back to XP until Vista can get its act
together...

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 CPU 6600 @ 2.40 GHz 2.39 GHZ
Memory: 2045 MB
System Type: 32-bit Operating System
Rating: 5.3

Hi,

Run msconfig from the search prompt, put the system in diagnostic mode.
Reboot. Does it run better now? If so, then the problem is a program or
service that you've installed that is running at boot time and you can use
the selective mode to decipher which is the cause.

This worked for one of the games I opened, but in this mode I couldn't check
how my browsers or online games worked. If I found out that it was a startup
program causing my problems, how would I find which one is giving me trouble?

Hi,

In selective mode, you can disable the loading software, a few at a time, on
the startup tab.
